The premise

A party of dungeon-delvers seals the door of a Safe Room — the one place in the Spiral Labyrinth where the System forbids all damage. At dawn, their leader is dead anyway: HP 0, in a room where that is impossible. The combat log says [No Damage Taken]. The log is lying. One evening, 9-10 players plus a game master: interrogate the System, trade secrets for Guild Marks, and find the exploit — and the hand — that beat the rules. A LitRPG murder mystery where everyone has an objective, and only one of you knows why the log can't be trusted.

The cast

Garric "Ironwarden" Thorne

Garric "Ironwarden" Thorne

Victim NPC

The party's tank and Guild-appointed leader, a broad wall of a man in dented plate whose word decided loot splits, marching order, and who ate first. Found dead at 0 HP on his bedroll at first light, a full potion by…

Nyx

Nyx

The party's quiet rogue and scout-killer, a hooded blade who speaks little and misses nothing — the only one at camp who finishes everyone's sentences correctly on the first try, an old habit of always having already…

Roderick Valebright

Roderick Valebright

A loud, glittering young master decked in S-rank gear, styling himself the 'Dragonslayer' and second only to Garric in the party's pecking order. Free with his coin, quick to remind everyone of his rank, and visibly…

The party's overworked support-class field-medic, sharp-tongued and threadbare, who has kept these people alive for years and been thanked with the smallest loot share. Notably brittle since the body was found, and…

Kael Ardent

Kael Ardent

Suspect

A hollow-eyed warlock bearing a rare Unique Class, wrapped in charms that seem more prison than power. Speaks in careful half-sentences and flinches whenever debts or oaths are mentioned.

Dax "Patch-Notes" Mell

Dax "Patch-Notes" Mell

Suspect

The party's min-maxer and self-appointed rules-lawyer, forever scribbling in a battered notebook and quoting System mechanics no one else has read. Contested Garric for leadership and lost badly, and has been…

Old Bram Hollow

Old Bram Hollow

Suspect

A grizzled veteran tank and quiet mentor to the younger blades, moving slower each month and coughing more. Carries himself like a man with nothing left to prove — or to lose.

Tamsin Brew

Tamsin Brew

Suspect

The party's crafter and alchemist, keeper of the cookfire and the potion-kit, warm to everyone but visibly cornered whenever Garric's contracts come up. Her stew fed the whole camp last night.

Cassia "Truesight" Vane

Cassia "Truesight" Vane

Detective

The party's scout and appraiser, calm and methodical, carrying a Guild-marked Appraisal focus she calls Truesight. Fiercely loyal to Garric as leader, she has appointed herself to find out how he really died before the…

Merrin Sax

Merrin Sax

Suspect

A smooth, ledger-carrying agent of The Iron Ledger carry-guild, along on this run as Roderick's 'sponsor' and minder. Speaks in the polite, bloodless tone of a man who owns your debts, and has been unusually watchful…

SPIRAL

SPIRAL

Witness NPC

The System Voice of the Spiral Labyrinth, narrating from the Save-Crystal altar in a dry, faintly mocking tone. It states rules, confirms status lines, and can be 'interrogated' — but it answers only exactly what is…
